OLD PICS The pictures below are my own from my early days living in the village. Hopefully they may be of interest. The quality of the images are not fanatastic as digital cameras were not quite around in the 70's/early 80's |

The picture on the left is the old village spar shop, if you look closely you can see me at the door. On the right is the scarecrow family that could be seen on the way to Odsey. I believe these even got a mention on the Terry Wogan show. |

The three pictures above show Steeple Morden as you would never see it today. The picture on the left shows the old school before the extension, the white caravan from memory is the mobile dentist which visited every so often. Does that bring back memories? The middle picture is a tree lined hill on the way upto Odsey, these trees died from Dutch Elm disease in the late 70's The picture on the right shows it snowing in Steeple Morden! Not just a flurry, this was a real snow shower cutting the village off from the outside world. |
